Adoption Services

  • Facilitates the adoption process
  • Provides ongoing support during adoption probation from the Adoption Coordinator
  • Coordinates support groups for parenting after adoption
  • Coordinates support groups for families waiting to parent
  • Provides non-identifying information from records to adult adopted persons, birth parents, birth grandparents, birth siblings and birth aunts/uncles

Parent Resources for Information and Development and Education (PRIDE)
  • Teaches a component of the Ontario Practice Model for the assessment, preparation and ongoing support of resource families, both Adoption and Foster

Focuses on the following topics:
  • Connecting children to safe, nurturing relationships intended to last a lifetime
  • Meet other prospective adoptive parents
  • Opportunity to ask questions from experienced adoptive parents
  • Participate as a member of a professional team
  • Provincial resources available for support
  • Reinforcing a child's heritage and cultural identity
  • Supporting relationships for children
  • Understand the impact of positive, day to day experiences
  • Understanding the needs of children
