Description
Offers a six bed live-in treatment program that provides a safe, structured home-like environment for children/youth who are in severe crisis
Provides a 90 day treatment and assessment service intended to:
  • Stabilize a youth's high risk behaviour
  • Allow for a complete comprehensive assessment
  • Actively engage the youth and their family and/or the support system in treatment
  • Assist youth to successfully transition back into their family and community
Placement is re-assessed at regular intervals to determine if a treatment extension is required
Eligibility
Children and youth who:
  • Are experiencing severe social, behavioral and/or emotional difficulties
  • Are exhibiting psychiatric difficulties
  • Require a comprehensive mental health assessment
  • Are at high risk of self-harm and suicide, and
  • Whose family is in acute crises and is at imminent risk of breaking down
Children are NOT eligible to receive service if they are medically unstable, and/or:
  • Have family who refuse to participate or consent to service
  • Exhibit such extreme behaviours that they cannot be managed safely within the live-in setting and staffing resources
  • Have special needs that require an alternative service and/or would benefit from a less intrusive service
  • Do not have a discharge plan
