Description
  • Provides developmental, psychological assessments
  • Offers family-centred assessments and interventions that aim to strengthen the parent's/guardian's ability to enhance the child's well being and development
  • Develops individualized, personalized and developmentally appropriate intervention plan in conjunction with the family
  • Provides developmental screening, assessment and intervention
  • Provides social skills training for children
  • Provides information on the child's developmental needs and advises of activities that will stimulate child's development when needing social, emotional, or behavioural intervention
  • Offers a Down Syndrome Support Group who meets monthly
Eligibility
Children experiencing:
  • Delays in development for organic or environmental reasons
  • "At risk" of delay
  • Serious or significant behavioural/emotional problems as a result of separation/divorce, sexual or physical abuse, family violence, attention deficit disorder, multi-problem families
  • Established risks related to medical disorders (Down Syndrome)
  • Biological risks related to or early developmental events that may have affected the central nervous system (prenatal, perinatal)
  • Psychosocial risk related to environments which fail to or have difficulty in responding adequately to the infant's physical, developmental and or socio-emotional needs (attachment difficulties)
