Rainy River First Nation

Operates a self government and is responsible for the day to day operations of the First Nation
  • Conducts business affairs mostly in towns of Emo and Fort Frances
  • Hosts an Annual Sobriety Traditional Pow Wow each spring and an Annual Fish Fry in August
  • Publishes a monthly newsletter, The Rapids Review
  • Offers two community centres, a baseball diamond, an outdoor ice rink and an arena
  • Provides the Kay-Nah-Chi-Wah-Nung Historical Centre which offers cross country skiing and snowshoe trails during the winter months

  • Rainy River First Nation is an amalgamation of seven historical Rainy River Saulteaux bands that were known as Hungry Hall 1 Band, Hungry Hall 2 Band, Little Forks Band, Long Sault 1 Band, Long Sault 2 Band, Manitou Rapids 1 Band and Manitou Rapids 2 Band
