Description
Represents the community in all lands and resources initiatives
  • Liaises with all companies undertaking resource development in traditional Kitchenuhmaykoosib territory including mining developments, forestry projects and hydro electric power projects
  • Participates in negotiations and agreements with resource developers to ensure Kitchenuhmaykoosib traditional lands and burial sites are protected
  • Works with the Housing Department for allocation of land to community registered members who wish to build a home or cabin on territorial land

Initiatives Kitchenuhmaykoosib Lands and Environment are/have been involved with include but are not limited to:
  • Platinex Inc mining exploration moratorium by provincial government within KI territory
  • God's Lake Resources (GLR) moratorium from mining exploration in KI territory
  • On-going Watershed Declaration issue to protect Fawn River watershed and all the water that flows in and out of Big Trout Lake
