Description
Operates a public on-reserve school for elementary students
  • Administered by Windigo Education Authority (WEA) who acts in an advisory capacity
  • Offers some programs for specific needs (ie math) for students from Junior Kindergarten (JK) to Grade 8; programs such as reading comprehension, writing skills and computer instruction offered as funding allows
  • Offers a selection of technology such as Chrome Books, IPads, Laptops, Smart Loft Boards, 3D printers, and hydroponic units
  • Provides classes in wood working, culinary arts classes, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, gardening, tree/berry planting, tipi circles and art therapy
  • Teaches Ojibway language as a subject course
  • Provides a daily breakfast and lunch program for students
  • Offers a school gymnasium, full kitchen and library
  • Offers cultural and traditional activities/outings such as fish netting and filleting, preparation of a moose during hunting season, preparation of goose and duck, and smoking of fish and meat
  • Coordinates after school clubs for activities such as guitar, crafts and running
Special Education
  • Provides special education assistance for students with learning difficulties
  • Strives for maximum amount of integration with regular programs
