Responsible for stimulating local economy and developing economic initiatives and opportunities for the community
  • Provides information, training and educational workshops to enhance employability skills
  • Posts employment opportunities in Band Office
  • Works to access funding for band-owned business ventures
  • Provides coaching in areas such as business plan development and assistance in obtaining financial support for people wanting to start own business
  • Maintains local business directory
  • Responsible for development of plans for the use of traditional lands for community members

Current economic initiatives North Caribou Lake First Nation is involved with include:
  • Liaison with Musselwhite Mine for employment opportunities
  • Joint ownership of Wataynikaneyap Power with 12 other First Nations and Goldcorps, to reinforce transmission lines to Pickle Lake and Musselwhite Mine and to construct new transmission lines north of Pickle Lake to service remote First Nation communities
  • A signed business partnership (2014) with North Star Air Ltd along with its affiliate Cargo North
  • A signed memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Toronto-based Romios Gold Resources regarding gold exploration work near Akow Lake on Dec 2/15
  • Advisory capacity for Northern Store
