- Responsible for stimulating local economy and developing economic initiatives and opportunities for the community
- Provides services through guidance and partnership with Waubetek Business Development Corporation (WBDC)
- Provides information, training and educational workshops to enhance employability skills
- Posts employment opportunities in office, in community newsletter and on website
- Works to access funding for Band-owned business ventures
- Provides coaching in areas such as business plan development and assistance in obtaining financial support for people wanting to start own business
- Maintains updated statistics regarding population trends, employment, skills and the community profile
- Manages the local business loans program
- MERE (Mother Earth Renewable Energy) Inc, a community-owned and operated 2-turbine wind energy farm project
- Development of a long term initiative for a Solar Energy project in partnership with other First Nations of the United Chiefs and Councils of Mnidoo Mnising (UCCMM)
- Participates in ownership of the Manitoulin Island Hotel & Conference Centre with five other First Nations and the Great Spirit Circle Trail (GSCT), a Manitoulin-based business that offers experiential tourism packages to people who want to experience First Nations culture
- Possible construction of a grocery store/pharmacy in the community
