Economic Development

Responsible for stimulating local economy and developing economic initiatives and opportunities for the First Nation community
  • Provides engineering, consulting and proposal development services
  • Provides information and educational workshops to enhance employability skills
  • Provides assistance and support to existing businesses
  • Provides local television cable service
  • Oversees local construction projects

Consulting services provided in the following areas:
  • Business planning and development
  • Community, economic and partnership development
  • Capacity building and training
  • Policy development and governance
  • Mediation and negotiation
  • Project management

Initiatives Attawapiskat Development Corporation is involved with include:
  • Neegan Naynowan Stantec (NNS) LP, a 51% owned Attawapiskat Aboriginal business which provides consulting, engineering and environmental services for infrastructure, industrial, urban planning, natural resources and environmental projects
  • Advisory for local business such as the Northern Store and Warehouse
  • Operates and manages the James Bay Winter Road through a jointly owned corporation with Fort Albany and Kashechewan, named after the Cree word for our road kimesskanemenow, the Kimesskanemenow Corporation
