Manages the provision of children services through formal cooperative funding and oversight arrangements with several non-profit and for profit service providers

Subsidized Day Care
  • Provides financial assistance towards the cost of day nursery or private home day care services for parents, foster parents or legal guardians

Best Start Initiative
  • Offers an expansion of quality and affordable child care and investments in every child's healthy early development, working in partnership with parents and families

Special Needs Resource Services
  • Ensures that all children, regardless of need, can participate in the child care setting of their families' choice

Ontario Works Child Care
  • Provides funding if available for Ontario Works recipients who are taking part in approved activities, to help pay for child care expenses in Licensed Child Care Facilities

  • Qualifying families must be working, attending training or school or have a child with special needs

Age Requirements: Ages: 12 year(s) and under;

Residency Requirements: Does not serve the city of Greater Sudbury
Application Process
  • Subsidized Day Care applications are accepted through all Manitoulin Sudbury District Social Services offices
  • Must also register child(ren) with desired child care program as some programs have a wait list

Applicants will need to submit the following:
  • Birth Certificates
  • Health Cards
  • Social Insurance Number
  • Previous taxation year's Notice of Assessment and/or the previous years Canada Child Tax Benefit Notice received by Revenue Canada.
  • Letter of referral if child care subsidy request is due to the recommendation of a professional
