Description
  • Provides a continuum of specialized mental health services and education for seniors and their formal and informal caregivers
  • Provides assessment, intervention and support to assist individuals with age related mental health disorders to remain in the community and to prevent psychiatric hospitalization where possible
  • Provides a 12-bed Regional Assessment and Treatment unit providing comprehensive specialized assessment and treatment for older individuals with complex psychiatric needs and severe persistent mental illness
  • Provides an 18-bed Regional Dementia Care Unit offering assessment and treatment for individuals with severe behaviour disturbances related to dementia
  • Provides follow-up and support for patients discharged from the inpatient units through the program's transition service

Psychogeriatric Resource Consultant
  • Provides education and training to formal caregivers in Ministry of Health funded care facilities

Individuals with complex psychiatric needs and severe persistent mental illness
Note:This program will provide services to those under the age of 65 if they have an age-related mental health issue
