Infectious Disease Programs

  • Promotes and educates on proper handwashing
  • Provides handwashing signs
  • Offers infection prevention resources for day care professionals

Beauty Treatments and Body Arts
  • Inspects all settings where there is a risk of exposure to blood and/or body fluids to clients

Lyme Disease
  • Investigates reports of Lyme disease
  • Provides various information and resources on ticks and how to stay safe and not get bit

  • Investigates animal bites and determines the need for rabies testing

West Nile Virus
  • Investigates reports of the West Nile Virus
  • Provides various information and resources on misquotes and how to stay safe
  • If you are bitten or scratched by an animal, report the exposure to the Porcupine Health Unit and seek medical attention immediately
  • Prompt reporting of the incident is required to ensure timely investigations to determine if post-exposure prophylaxis is required
