Magnetawan First Nation

Operates a self government and is responsible for the day to day operations of the Magnetawan First Nation
  • Serviced by air through the Parry Sound Area Municipal Airport located approx 80 km SW of community
  • Provides the Magnetawan First Nation Store and Gas Bar; most shopping conducted in Britt and Parry Sound
  • Provides a community Water and Waste Treatment Plant
  • Publishes a monthly community newsletter available through home delivery and on website

Tribal Council: Waabnoong Bemjiwang Association of First Nations (WBAFN) Political Territorial Organization: Union of Ontario Indians (UOI) Robinson-Huron Treaty
  • Consists of one main reserve called Magnetawan 1 with a land area of approx 47.21 sq km
  • Reserve is located approx 6 km E of Georgian Bay
  • In June 2015 community members voted in favour of their own Land Code making them the 11th First Nation in Ontario to ratify the Framework Agreement on FN Land Management
