Description
  • Assists individuals who suffer from a hearing loss improve their communication with family and friends, stay involved in social activities, and remain safe and independent at home
  • Educates care providers, service providers, and support groups on how to provide accessible services for individuals with hearing loss

Provides a variety of services, including:
Communication Devices
Provides information, demonstrations, and assistance with assistive listening technology, specialized telephones, and alerting devices

Education
Provides family support and communication training, self-help and support groups, and in-service training to home-support providers

Information and Counselling
  • Provides in-home counselling to individuals, families, and other caregivers related to coping with a hearing loss
  • Helps with the use, care, and maintenance of hearing aids
  • Provides referrals to other community services
Comments
Priority is given to those aged 55 and older, but the centre will also serve individuals who are under 55 who suffer from hearing loss and require home-based services. These individuals are asked to inquire about General Support Services.
