Chapleau Cree First Nation

Operates a self government and is responsible for the day to day operations of the Chapleau Cree First Nation
  • Closest air service is through the Chapleau Airport located 3 km SE of community along Hwy 101
  • Postal services are provided at the Canada Post postal station in town of Chapleau
  • Offers local businesses including the Band-owned Pimii Kamik Gas Bar, Chapleau Cree Small Engine Repair shop and Chi-Bannock Chip Wagon
  • Publishes a monthly community newsletter
  • Administers Mukeso House, a six-unit Senior's Complex
  • Provides on-reserve recreational facilities including a ball diamond, a beach and a small park area
  • Maintains the residential school cemetery which includes annual site maintenance and ceremonies
  • Chapleau Cree territory includes the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve which is the largest Crown game preserve in North America

  • Accessible by road or full air service through the Chapleau Airport
  • All Ontario Works issues must be dealt with in town of Chapleau
