English as a Second Language

  • Provides day classes in English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction using speaking, listening, reading and writing skills at the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels
  • Offers evening classes for Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test preparation, International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test preparation, English for Academic Purposes and Workplace English Language Skills
Hours of Operation
Adult Day School: Mon-Fri 9 am-2:30 pm Sep-Jun
Summer School: Mon-Fri 8 am-1 pm (July at Superior Heights location)
Night School: Tue, Thu 6 pm-9 pm (Feb-May at Prince Charles location)
Immigrants and Canadians whose mother tongue is not English

Age Requirements: Ages: 19 year(s) and up;
Application Process
  • Call to request a registration form which can be returned to the school by fax, email or mail after completion
  • Letter of acceptance will be sent to student, who must take it to own country embassy to obtain a student visa
  • All visiting foreign students must have a student visa, with the exception of students from the United States
  • Health insurance is also required for visitors who wish to study in Ontario; if assistance is required to obtain medical insurance, contact the Northland office
